The Perfect Pint

Too Much Head!

Chill out people.  The bartender is not ripping you off; beer head is an important component of a perfect pint of beer.  Embrace it.

In short, beer head forms when CO2 or Nitrogen (for Guinness) gases rises up the slides of the beer glass to form a frothy foam that rests on top of the liquid.  Beer head also helps to release the favour of the beer.  Try it for yourself, Guinness without the creamy head tastes a lot different from a Guinness poured correctly.
